Directed by Edgar Barens, Prison Terminal: The Last Days of Private Jack Hall is a moving documentary that breaks through the walls of one of America’s oldest maximum security prisons to tell the story of the final months in the life of a terminally ill incarcerated person and the incarcerated hospice volunteers who care for him. The film draws from footage shot over a six-month period behind the walls of the Iowa State Penitentiary and provides a poignant account of how the hospice experience can profoundly touch the lives of the incarcerated.
“Each time an incarcerated person has the opportunity to reconnect to their humanity by showing and receiving compassion, it transforms the prison community and has a ripple effect on the families and communities connected to those in prison.” — Ladybird Morgan
All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Humane Prison Hospice Project to support their efforts.
