TalkDeath’s Readers’ Choice Awards 2025

Long time readers of TalkDeath will recognize that we typically put together a ‘Best Popular Media and Death and Grief’ guide around this time of year. As 2025 comes to an end, we wanted to take a moment to look back and appreciate the beauty, wonder, and honesty that so many death care workers and artists bestowed into their practices this year. But this year we’re doing things a little differently!

We’re expanding our ‘Best of the Year’ guide to include death care workers, funeral homes, cemeteries, mission driven or mutual aid projects, and more who made generative contributions to the landscape of death care and grief care this year. Tomorrow is never promised, so we want to celebrate folks and give them their roses while they are still here.

Not only have we expanded the scope to highlight death and grief care providers, but we’re inviting all of you to be an important part of the process! We want to welcome all of you to nominate the best pieces of art, favorite death care workers, and more that you think have made generative contributions to the fields of and discussions around death, dying, loss, and grief.

There will be a two week nomination period following, so stay tuned!
