Join us at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for a meaningful exploration of how art can illuminate and validate our personal experiences with loss. Led by creative grief professional\, Melanie Wilson\, and arts educator\, Deborah Chi\, this intimate group gathering will invite participants to view and discuss several carefully selected works of art that speak to different aspects of the mourning process. Through reflective exercises and thoughtful conversation\, participants will have the opportunity to explore their own grief and feelings around dying\, using art as a catalyst for deeper understanding. This engaging experience encourages processing and dialogue as we reflect on how these artistic expressions might resonate with our own journeys through grief\, creating space for both individual contemplation and shared understanding.\nPlease note: This is an interactive experience where participants are invited to share thoughts and feelings. You will have the chance to connect with others who are navigating their own grief as well. In this workshop we will create ceramic grief jars\, or grief urns. Colleen from “Death Doula Does\,” will guide grievers in building a personal grief self-care ritual\, and teach them how to hold space for their journey with grief. \nTwo evenings are available: September 24th\, 6-9pm and October 22nd\, 6-9pm \nAll clay materials and firing are included\, and all participants will receive a grief care zine from Death Doula Does. \nCompleted grief jars will be ready for pick up approximately 2 weeks after completion. \nMasks are required for this class and will be provided. I know there is for me. It’s a both-and/two truths situation. Many of us make this choice for a lot of unfortunate\, depressing\, and/or systemic reasons\, and I created this space where we can be with our truths\, and hurts\, around it all. \nOur monthly peer-led Zoom group is intended to be a space for people who have chosen not to have children. It is not intended to be a child-loss support group or infertility support group\, although if you have prior experience with infertility and/or pregnancy loss and have since decided to not have children (meaning you are now childfree by choice) feel free to join and see if it’s a good fit.

You will have the chance to connect with others who are navigating their own grief as well. In this workshop we will create ceramic grief jars\, or grief urns. Colleen from “Death Doula Does\,” will guide grievers in building a personal grief self-care ritual\, and teach them how to hold space for their journey with grief. \nTwo evenings are available: September 24th\, 6-9pm and October 22nd\, 6-9pm \nAll clay materials and firing are included\, and all participants will receive a grief care zine from Death Doula Does. \nCompleted grief jars will be ready for pick up approximately 2 weeks after completion. \nMasks are required for this class and will be provided. No cloth masks please.
