DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in how the existential fear of death shapes society? Do you wonder how we can address injustice? Join our weekly online reading group\, Radical Mindfulness\, to explore how mindfulness can serve as a powerful tool for political transformation. Together\, we’ll build a supportive community of care and reflection. Whether you’re seeking connection\, inspiration\, or fresh perspectives\, this space offers an opportunity to learn and grow in solidarity. We meet via Zoom on Sundays. Recordings will be shared after each gathering. \n-Sundays 6:30 to 8pm ET beginning September 14th\n-Free to attend\n-Free PDF of the book from author\, James Rowe\n-Physical copy offered with a 30% discount from Routledge \nThis weekly reading and discussion of Radical Mindfulness will explore the causes of injustice and how to achieve social transformation. Drawing from scholarly literature\, the author suggests the existential fear of death is at the root of oppression\, and that meditation and ritual can be pathways to structural change. \nThis will be different from most book clubs. There is no homework; each week we pick up where we left off and read together. We will pause for questions\, reflections\, clarifications\, as ways to engage the material. DESCRIPTION:Death Project Manager\, Silent Book Club of Death\, Silent Book Club of Death NYC\, Silent Book Club of Death MTL\, and TalkDeath’s Book Club are thrilled to invite you to a Virtual Silent Book Club of Death meeting! \nThis virtual gathering will be on Friday\, October 10th at 5pm ET/ 4pm CT/ 3pm MT/ 2pm PT. \nSilent Book Club of Death meetings are structured like any Silent Book Club gathering: you meet up with friendly\, like-minded readers\, and then politely ignore them while reading a book of your own choosing. Members are encouraged to bring books related to the theme of death\, dying\, grief\, aging\, or mortality\, but anyone who wants to just read quietly in a death-conscious space is welcome to join. \nFolks are welcome to be on or off camera. We’ll play some relaxing music. After the designated reading time\, folks are welcome to stay on and share a bit about what they’re reading and connect. \nA loose agenda for the evening is as follows: \n5PM – 5:15PM: readers join; introductions of hosts and guests \n5:15 – 5:45PM: silent reading time while music plays \n5:45 – 6:15PM: share out about what you’ve read and lightly facilitated group discussion \n6:15 – 6:30PM: goodbyes and wrap up \nThis virtual event will be held via Zoom.
