SUMMARY:(a)Wake Presents: A Living Funeral Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Tickets purchased via Scribble here: https://link.dice.fm/bccde2d392f0 \nA community offering to give 2025 a good death and step into the new year with intention. Join us for a Living Funeral Ceremony at Scribble. \nA Living Funeral Ceremony is an immersive meditative experience that encourages participants to face their own mortality. Through engaging in ritual and guidance through a death visualization–contemplating your own memorial as you imagine letting go of your earthly self–participants are invited to “die before you die\, to live while you’re alive.” \nThis ceremonial experience provides a safe and supportive space to confront fears around death and impermanence\, while also fostering a deeper connection to life’s fragility and beauty. Often compared to the experience of ego death\, this ritual leaves many with a renewed sense of purpose and a profound appreciation for the present moment. \nTIMING \nPlease arrive on time by 2pm\, as the container will close once the ceremony begins to honor the sacred environment we are co-creating. The ritual portion takes up to 90 minutes. After the ceremony is complete\, Kaitlyn will hold space for participants until 4pm. \nWHAT TO BRING/WEAR \nA blanket\, yoga mat\, or something to lay on \nComfortable\, breathable clothing is recommended \nPRICING STRUCTURE \n(a)Wake is part of a movement toward collective care. Please choose the price that suits your current situation. If you are not able to pay any of the listed prices\, please email info@scribblecommunity.com for more information. \n$22 – Community Supported (for those who need financial access to attend; limited availability)\n$33 – Base Rate (covers cost of materials + energy exchange)\n$44 – True Cost (what it actually costs to offer this ceremony)\n$55+ – Community Sustainer (supports others to attend + helps this work remain sustainable)\nThis ceremony will be facilitated by Kaitlyn Pietras (she/her)\, a queer Jewish grief worker and visual artist based in Los Angeles. She is the creator of (a)Wake\, a ritual container at the intersection of grief\, death\, and art. Her practice is rooted in tending to both personal and collective grief\, connecting with ancestral wisdom\, and creating ritual spaces for the LGBTQIA+ community. Kaitlyn’s work weaves together plant magic\, Jewish mysticism\, and somatic storytelling. \nShe trained directly with Emily Cross of the Steady Waves Center\, who developed this ceremony inspired by living funerals originally held in South Korea. These ceremonies were created to help participants reflect on their lives and reconnect with a sense of meaning and purpose in the face of death.

We’re holding space for relief\, acceptance\, community\, and grace-no fixing\, no pressure. Let’s gently untangle\, one strand at a time.

SUMMARY:Grief in Motion: Inviting Flow Through Breath
DESCRIPTION:A guided community circle where we turn toward our grief and use the power of breath to gently guide it into flow.\nHosted by the Denver Deathcare Collective. Where grief is tended and death is sacred. \nThese monthly grief circles at Sakala Community are a compassionate space to hold your sorrow in the embrace of community. \nIn this month’s circle\, Ashley Bradney of Healing & Dying is partnering with Erin Doty of ShatterStress to offer a somatic transformation of grief through breathwork. Together\, we’ll honor the grief that lives in our bodies\, invite in flow and release of emotional energy through breathwork\, and support integration through reiki & gentle touch. \nIn this way\, we transform our grief into mourning – guiding it to find its natural course through the body; restoring motion where stagnancy has resided; opening up the channels where love\, joy\, and reverence may return to us. \nWhat to Expect \nOur time together will include: \nGrounding to arrive fully in the body\nConnection & introduction to our practice\nGuided Holotropic Breathwork practice\nShared reflections and community support \nWho It’s For \nThis circle is for anyone moving through grief – from the loss of those we love\, through heartbreak\, identify shifts\, illness\, aging; collective & ancestral grief; to the places that have not known love. All are welcome here. \nWhat to bring \nWater\nA journal and pen\nAnything special you need to get cozy such as an eye mask or pillow (yoga mats\, blankets\, and bolsters are provided)\nOptional – an item that represents whom or what you are grieving to be placed on the community altar \nA Note on Accessibility. \nIf this price isn’t accessible for you\, please reach out to us directly at denverdeathcarecollective@gmail.com so we can accommodate. SUMMARY:Support for our Grieving Community - Guided Discussion & Educational Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Grief isn’t only something we experience after a death. We grieve relationships\, careers\, dreams\, and a changing sense of safety\, and many of us are also grieving the state of the world itself. These everyday griefs are often unspoken\, yet they shape how we navigate life and care for one another. Many of us are wondering how to stay engaged with what’s happening in the world while also caring for our own mental and emotional well-being. \nThis 90-minute interactive\, donation-based grief workshop explores grief as a life skill – one that helps us adapt to unwanted change\, understand what we need to cope\, and remain open to compassion for others during times of distress and communal grief. \nThis workshop offers grief education\, guided sharing\, community connection\, and a grounding practice to support living well and caring for others during times of communal grief. The Death Network was founded with community\, curiosity\, and connection at its core\, and this workshop with grief coaches Wendy Kessler and Claudia Faerber reflects that intention — creating space to be honest\, present\, and human together. \nThis workshop is for those seeking helpful\, practical ways to understand and navigate everyday grief as it shows up in daily life. Whether your grief feels clear or hard to name\, you are welcome here — to learn\, reflect\, and be in community with others who are also finding their way. \nCreated for those looking for helpful ways to navigate everyday grief as it weaves through daily life\, this space welcomes both the named and unnamed losses we carry. Come to learn\, reflect\, and sit in community with others walking a similar path. \nThis workshop is offered by donation to keep it accessible to all. Your support helps us continue creating community spaces like this. Venmo: @thedeathnetwork\nThanks so much!

SUMMARY:The Art of Grief Tending — Foundational Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The Art of Grief Tending is a 3-hour online experiential workshop for those who wish to understand grief better — their own grief or that of others — and learn ways to meet it with presence\, compassion\, and skill. \nIn a culture that often avoids grief\, pathologizes it\, or urges people to “move on\,” this workshop offers a grounded introduction to grief as a natural\, relational\, and lifelong response to loss — not something to “get over\,” but something to be tended in community and with care. \nThrough grief literacy teaching\, gentle somatic practices\, guided reflection\, and shared inquiry\, participants will explore: \n• What grief is (and isn’t)\, including common myths and cultural misunderstandings\n• How grief lives in the body and nervous system\n• Simple\, practical ways to support oneself through grief\n• The importance of witnessing grief\, ritual\, and relational support in healthy grieving \nThis workshop is suitable for anyone living with grief\, as well as caregivers\, community workers\, clinicians\, and those wanting to build grief literacy in their lives or work. \nNo prior experience is needed. You are welcome exactly as you are. \nTo attend\, please register on the event website.

Esné is a twice-certified Master in traditional and modern Usui Reiki\, and practices shamanic energy work\, in combination with Master Plant dieta retreats in the Peruvian Amazon. Esné has ongoing training with the Amazonian jungle ‘Master Plants’ within the context of the Shipibo shamanic tradition. She facilitates Ayahuasca retreats within Peru and abroad. Additionally\, she is deepening her work with the subconscious at the Institute of Interpersonal Hypnotherapy\, licensed by the Department of Education in the US\, as she is a recent graduate as a Certified Transpersonal Hypnotherapist program. Follow her for more events and service offerings: @Natural.Esne on Instagram\, Facebook \nAdrianna Prosser\, aka Lady Death Doula\, Death Doula and Grief Educator\nYou might have seen Adrianna on CTV’s The Social as a special guest talking about the Death Positive Movement\, or heard her on CBC Radio One across the country talking about grief and bereavement\, or in Canadian Business Magazine as a death industry disruptor\, or liked one of her TikTok videos sharing her journey as a Death Doula. Adrianna’s brother Andrew died by suicide in 2010 and his death catipulated her life into death work and mental health advocacy: she became a suicide awareness trainer and interventionist. She toured her one-woman show Everything But the Cat… for 10 years about suicide loss and bereavement\, utilizing her storytelling background to create inclusive space to open a dialogue around death and dying. In 2019 Adrianna’s coworker Roberta asked if she wanted to go to Disneyland and South Korea to celebrate getting off chemo for stage four breast cancer; Roberta had a year to live and wanted a companion to get through her bucketlist and of course Adrianna said yes and embraced being a Death Doula for her friend. Holding liminal space and being comfortable in the discomfort has led Adrianna to become a hospice volunteer and grief counselor. She is currently in a fast-tracked Bachelor’s of Social Work to become a grief therapist to complement all the training she has done as a death worker. Her practice is anti-oppressive\, radically feminist\, and magically authentic to ensure she centers her companions where they are at on their care journey. Adrianna’s brother Andrew died by suicide in 2010 and his death catapulted her life into death work and mental health advocacy: she became a suicide awareness trainer and interventionist. SUMMARY:Grief Beyond Graves: Queer Mourning & Collective Healing
DESCRIPTION:Less Fear | More Fierce: Queer End-of-Life Planning\nLGBTQ+ Centric Online Discussion Series\n2nd Wednesdays | 1-2:30 pm ET | | January – June 2026 \nWhat would collective healing look like if we made space for every kind of queer loss—not just the ones with headstones? \nGrief isn’t only about death. Queer and trans people often carry grief from non-death losses—family estrangement\, identity erasure\, loss of community\, housing\, or health. \nThis session explores disenfranchised grief and collective mourning\, offering space to name\, witness\, and begin to heal these often-invisible losses. \nWe’ll also touch on grief in response to social and political violence\, and how we can create rituals for communal mourning and resilience.
